    The South Caucasus Network of Human Rights defenders issued a statement on Feb. 1 condemning the conviction of Nikol Pashinyan, editor-in-chief of Haikakan Zhamanak daily sentenced to 7 years for organisation of mass disorders during March events. "Pashinyan was convicted for his political views," said the statement. A1+

  • Clinton ‘Reassures’ Armenia On Turkey
    U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has reassured Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian that the United States will continue to seek a quick and unconditional normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations, official Yerevan said on Friday, 29 January.The two met in London Thursday on the sidelines of an international conference on Afghanistan.“Hillary Clinton reaffirmed U.S. support for the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey and a speedy ratification and implementation of the signed protocols,” the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.The ministry said Nalbandian reiterated for his part that the court ruling only testifies to the Armenian leadership’s commitment to the letter and spirit of the protocols. “He added that Armenia expects the same approach from Turkey,” it said.   • Protocols Not Sent to Parliament Yet
    The president hasn't sent the Armenian-Turkish Protocols to Parliament yet, and they are not included in the agenda of NA spring session, informed National Assembly Spokesman Nairi Petrosyan. Panarmenian.net


  • PACE Bureau Decision
    On 29 January, PACE Bureau decided to appoint MP from Dashnaktsutiun Party Armen Roustamian to the Monitoring Committee. The place was contested by the Heritage Party deputy Zaruhi Postanjyan who claimed Roustamian could not represent the opposition. Haikakan Zhamanak
