  • Kazakhstan’s Proposal on NKR Conflict Resolution
    Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev has presented a package of measures to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Chairman of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry’s Committee of International Information Roman Vasilenko told media, according to Interfax Azerbaijan. According to the source, Kazakhstan's President said OSCE-Chairman-in-Office Kanat Saudabayev passed on the proposals to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev while on an official visit to Azerbaijan. Vasilenko declined to specify details of the proposal. "Kazakhstan is an honest broker and an impartial mediator. We support the OSCE peacemaking efforts and the OSCE Minsk Group mediators," he said.   • Tigran Balayan: Azerbaijan trying to avoid responsibility for ethnic cleansing
    Asked to comment on Azerbaijani MFA Spokesman Elhan Polukhov’s statement that the NKR regions of Shahumyan, Martakert and Martuni are part of Azerbaijan, Head of the Media Relations Department of the MFA Tigran Balayan said: “By declaring that the Shahumyan, Martakert and Martuni regions of Nagorno Karabakh belong to Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country is trying to avoid responsibility for the ethnic cleansing and occupation as a result of aggression against Nagorno Karabakh. It would be strange if Azerbaijan could present at least one document of international law that allows perpetrating ethnic cleansing justified on the grounds that it is the state’s own territory.” Public Radio, Aravot


  • Protocols were not Included in the Agenda
    The Armenian-Turkish Protocols were not included in the agenda of NA sittings to commence on February 22. The Protocols are currently being discussed by the NA Standing Commissions. Hayots Ashkarh


  • Rustamyan: What do we Cede at our Expense?
    The head of the NA Commission on external relations, the member of the ARF faction Armen Rustamyan said today that the Armenian and Turkish protocols are already in the commission which is going to present its opinion in this connection after a primary discussion to be held tomorrow.  They are going to appeal to the NA Speaker to start the discussion of the protocols only after the conclusion of the commission. As to the ARF opinion, Rustamyan says they are against the protocols in their current form. He said if they are to be ratified in the current form, ARF will vote against. Lragir.am


  • U.S. Undersecretary to Discuss Armenian Genocide in Ankara
    U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William Burns will arrive in Ankara from Syria. He will discuss joint efforts against Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), Iran's nuke program, as well as Armenia-Turkey reconciliation and draft resolution on Armenian Genocide in the U.S. Congress, Turkish Milliyet daily reports. Burns will also pay visits to Lebanon, Syria and Azerbaijan. It is worth mentioning U.S. official’s visit is followed by Clinton-Erdogan meeting in Qatar, Davutoglu-Mottaki meeting in Iran and Turkish Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Feridun Sinirlioglu’s visit to the U.S. News.am


  • Winds of Change Remains Unchanged
    Euronews video “Winds of change in Nagorno-Karabakh” posted on agency's website last November and removed on demand of Azerbaijani side is restored.The video captured by Euronews journalists who visited Nagorno-Karabakh reflected true essence of Karabakh conflict while NKR was presented as an independent republic. After the item was placed on Euronews website, Azerbaijani side as expected threw a fit. Country’s Foreign Ministry even filed a note of protest to Euronews. Channel’s management had to remove the video and shoot another film “Forgotten victims of frozen conflict” about Azerbaijani refugees.However, “Winds of change in Nagorno-Karabakh” was restored on the website right after the new film appeared.     The Central Board of the Social Democratic Henchak Party (SDHK) thinks that the Republic of Armenia is witnessing a social, economic and political crisis. The party has issued a statement stating that no progress is registered the country. A1+


  • Parliamentary elections 2010. The chairman of 10/12 Precinct Charged on Forgery of Voting Results
    The preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on the forgery of voting results by the chairman of the precinct 10/12 has been completed RA Special Investigation Service. The prosecutor supervising the preliminary investigation of the criminal case confirmed the bill of indictment. On checking the information published in “A1+” website, it turned out that the chairman of 10/12 precinct G. Galoyan forged the voting results of the Parliamentary elections held in Yerevan on January 10, 2010. Particularly, he added false passport data and signature in front of the name of A. Burnachyan with 1655 number on page 27, making impression that the latter had voted. Then, G. Galoyan took a ballot and a package, signed the ballot and put it into the ballot box. On the obtained evidence G. Galoyan has been charged according to the RA Criminal Code, Article 150. The criminal case has been sent to the Court of First Instance of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts for the thorough investigation. Hayastani Hanrapetutyun
